Dental implantology originated as the treatment of completely edentulism patients and is intimitely linked to the swedish researcher and orthopedic surgeon Dr.Ingvar Branemark. He published in 1977 the first positive results of a 10 years study on humans. His results gave a 95% positive result in the mandible and greater than 90% in the maxilla.
